Emma Shanks is Chief External Affairs Officer at Australia’s peak body representing energy networks, joining the organisation in 2023 after more than a decade working across energy, transport and infrastructure.

Emma leads strategy, national advocacy and social licence initiatives in partnership with Australia’s electricity and gas networks as they support customers through the energy transition. She works closely with industry, government and stakeholders to help shape a reliable, affordable and low-emissions energy future.

With a background spanning major infrastructure projects, strategic communications and government affairs across the public and private sectors, Emma brings deep experience in navigating complex reform and change. She is passionate about ensuring the voices of customers and communities are central to the policy decisions and actions that will drive the energy transition.
